South Africans called to spend 67 minutes cooking in nationwide 67000litres for Mandela Day initiative

CLEAN OUT YOUR PANTRY AND SPEND 67 MINUTES HELPING TO COOK 67 000 LITRES OF SOUP

Today marks the one-month countdown to Mandela Day. In the environment of a global pandemic, spending 67 minutes doing good is more challenging than in previous years – but more necessary than ever before in our history. The pandemic of hunger is growing every day. From 14 million people going hungry every day prior to lockdown, the number has grown to an estimated 18 to 19 million people who battle hunger every day.

Chefs with Compassion is a volunteer-based organisation consisting of a network of chefs, food donors and waste warriors who rescue food that would have gone to waste, which is then transformed into nutritious meals by cooks, community caterers and chefs and provided to beneficiary organisations who feed the hungry and destitute in their communities. After a hugely successful #67000litres for Mandela Day challenge in 2020, Chefs with Compassion has extended the opportunity to participate in this incredible national initiative beyond the hospitality industry, making it possible for every single South African to participate.
