Zola 7 re-releases his Ghetto Fabulous single on streaming platforms

single set for re-release ahead of his "Bhambatha" album 20th anniversary digital launch

South African music legend Zola 7 is proud to announce the digital release of his hit single "Ghetto Fabulous" on June 14, 2024. This re-release is part of the lead-up to the highly anticipated digital launch of his seminal album, "Bhambatha," on its 20th anniversary. Originally released in 2001, "Ghetto Fabulous" quickly became a massive hit and solidified Zola 7's status as a prominent figure in South African music.

Ghetto Fabulous," known for its catchy beat, innovative Kwaito sound, and powerful lyrics, captures the essence of township life, celebrating resilience, perseverance, and the spirit of community amidst challenging circumstances. The song's anthemic chorus and energetic delivery made it an anthem for South Africans, particularly because it was also the soundtrack of the popular TV Drama, Yizo Yizo, where Zola made his ground-breaking acting debut as the ruthless gangster “Papa Action.” The song won the award for Best Kwaito Song at the SAMA Awards in 2001.

Zola 7, whose real name is Bonginkosi Dlamini, expressed his excitement about the re-release, stating, "Ghetto Fabulous is a track that means so much to me and to many South Africans. I'm thrilled to reintroduce it to both old fans and new listeners as we build up to the digital release of Bhambatha."

The re-release of "Ghetto Fabulous" is also a part of the broader celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Bhambatha album, which will be available digitally for the first time on June 18, 2024. Bhambatha, originally released in 2004, captivated audiences with its powerful blend of Kwaito, hip hop, and traditional African sounds. The album features standout tracks such as "Don't Cry," "X Girlfriend," "Zingu 7," "Nomhle," and "Greytown."
