Joburg pride traffic report

 Purely, Queerly, African

On Saturday, several road networks in Johannesburg will be closed to traffic between 8:00 and

10:00, and then from 13:00 to 14:30.

The affected arterial roads are Rivonia Road, Grayston Drive, 5th Street, Maude Street, Daisy

Street, Whiteley Road, Melrose Boulevard, Athol Oaklands Rd, Oxford Road, Glenhove Road, Jan

Smuts Avenue, Rand Show Road, Nasrec Road, and the Golden Highway.

Jacaranda FM understands that the affected roads will be closed entirely to traffic to simulate the

movement of the world leaders’ motorcades.

Motorists are urged to use alternative routes, including the M57, as an alternative to the R21

between Johannesburg and Pretoria, and Beyers Naudé Drive instead of R512 or N1 for

west/northwest travel.

For east-west travel, use regional roads through Germiston, Kempton Park, or Bedfordview instead

of R24/N12.

Within Sandton, Rosebank, and Parktown, use side streets parallel to Jan Smuts, Oxford, Rivonia

Road, Corlett Drive, Sandton Drive, 11th Avenue,

In southern Johannesburg, Riverlea, Nasrec, and Ormonde View, use Chris Hani Road, Main Reef

Road, Crown Wood Road (Fordsburg–Crown Mines), and Soweto Highway, N17."Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and consider alternative

routes where possible,
