The TOKIT Omni Cook C2 – the all-in-one smart cooking machine which is revolutionising kitchens around the world and is the first on the African continent to feature an AI-supported cooking assistant – is coming to Hostex, the country’s leading hospitality trade exhibition. Taking place from March 8 to 10 at the Sandton Convention Centre, this milestone edition celebrates 40 years of Hostex opening doors for the food, drink and hospitality industry and brings together innovation, inspiration and connection under one roof.

The TOKIT Omni Cook C2 – which combines multiple features to do the job of more than 20 traditional appliances and which is Wi-Fi-enabled and connected to a global repository of recipes which users are guided through via the device’s step-by-step digital interface – was introduced to the South African market in May 2025 by the Swiss Diversitas Group. The company behind the TOKIT is the Shanghai-based Chunmi Technology Co., Ltd, a company that has been in existence since 2013 and specialises in smart kitchen appliances. Chunmi, in turn, is part of the ecological chain of multinational Chinese conglomerate the Xiaomi Corporation, best known for being the world’s No 2 mobile phone producer.

Says founder and director of the Swiss Diversitas Group Nicolas Thoenen: “Smart all-in-one cooking machines such as the TOKIT are used by novice home cooks, culinary enthusiasts and professionals and we are delighted that many top South African restaurants, hotels and hospitality establishments have already purchased our machine. Just as cell phones reshaped society, we believe that the integration of smart cooking gadgets into daily life will change how we interact with food. These devices make cooking simpler and more accessible and allow people to embrace healthier, more sustainable lifestyles. As intelligent IoT (Internet of Things) and artificial intelligence (AI) continue to advance, the question isn’t if these technologies will dominate South African kitchens – it’s how soon.”

Adds Thoenen: “Professional chefs and commercial kitchens are increasingly adopting smart cooking robots to solve critical operational challenges, enhance efficiency and ensure consistency in high-volume environments so we are delighted to be at Hostex this year.”

The TOKIT Omni Cook employs the subscription free CookNJoy platform where users can find more than 5000 recipes as well as its new AI-supported cooking assistant which becomes the user’s own personal sous chef. The CookNJoy platform can be accessed through a touchscreen interface on the machine, a phone app and the TOKIT website. The recipe collection is constantly updated with new dishes from different regions of the world, including South African favourites.

Most importantly it has a specialised “Created Recipe” function within the CookNJoy app, designed to allow professional chefs to digitise, save and distribute their signature recipes for consistent, high-quality production by kitchen staff. Chefs can input their own proprietary recipes, including specific temperatures, times, and speeds, ensuring the final dish tastes exactly as intended.

Since its launch in 1986, Hostex has grown into South Africa’s leading hospitality trade exhibition, evolving alongside an industry that continues to adapt, innovate and redefine itself. For four decades, the show has provided a trusted platform where suppliers meet buyers, trends are revealed, skills are sharpened and businesses discover what’s next.
