INTRODUCING THE DU BOIS VINEYARDS SONOP CHENIN BLANC

Celebrating a family legacy, generations of vineyard knowledge, and a long-held dream finally realised in a bottle

The Du Bois family have been growing grapes in Stellenbosch since 1931, when the family first established roots on the farm Sonop in Koelenhof. For more than nine decades, the Du Bois family’s grapes went into some of the most prized wines of the Cape, earning a reputation for exceptional fruit. Now, Gawie du Bois Snr and his sons Gabriël Jnr and Jacques are putting their own name on the bottle.

Enter the Sonop Chenin Blanc crafted from heritage bush vines planted in 1982 and 1986 on the slopes of Sonop Hill rising above Koelenhof at 240m to 280m. The 2024  was their maiden vintage, transforming them from growers to vignerons. Highly rated, it sold out within four months.

The 2025 vintage Sonop Chenin Blanc is their second release. Naturally fermented and matured for eleven months on lees in old oak barrels, the wine offers layers of white pear, peach, citrus, and subtle spice, balanced by vibrant acidity and a distinctive mineral character.

More than a wine release, the 2025 vintage celebrates a family legacy, generations of vineyard knowledge, and a long-held dream finally realised in a bottle.
