Pride of Africa will host its 2026 Empowerment Summit on Friday, 16 October at the Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City, bringing together members of the LGBTQ+ community, professionals, corporate partners, community organisations and allies for a day focused on economic participation, professional development, support and lived experience.
This year’s Summit takes place under the theme The Human Library, built around the idea that behind every identity, statistic and social issue is a human story that deserves to be heard.
The programme will create space for direct conversations around community development, gender-based violence, economic participation, professional development and the realities experienced across different parts of the LGBTQ+ community. Counsellors will also be available throughout the day to provide support where needed.
A key announcement at the Summit will be the launch of the Pride of Africa Fellowship(UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL 16 OCTOBER 2026), a new 2027 development programme focused on future-ready business, digital and professional skills, with the aim of creating practical pathways into entrepreneurship, technology and professional careers.
The Summit forms part of the wider Pride of Africa Month programme, culminating in Johannesburg Pride Day and March on 31 October.
